Welcome to the Faculty of Foreign Philology!

The principal task of the Faculty of Foreign Philology is to train teachers for secondary education in its English, German, Polish Languages, and Literature specializations: a study of 2 foreign languages (English, German/ German, English/ Polish, English – up to C1 level, the second foreign languages (English/German– from the beginning to B2 level). The Faculty regularly involves visiting professors (from Poland, Germany, and the USA) to teaching professional disciplines, conducting masterclasses, special seminars, and guest lectures.

In its Foreign Languages and Literature specializations teaching is directed not only at the development of pragmatic competence but also takes into account the socio-cultural features of the community of the target language. The faculty develops cooperation with the British Council, the Goethe Institute, the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) lectures, and native speakers’ clubs, and didactic workshops.

The faculty is involved in scientific seminars leading Ukrainian and foreign linguists, conducting special conferences and webinars.

Taking into account the internationalization of the educational process learners study both practical and theoretical subjects, engaging students into the academic mobility program – Erasmus+KA107. It is gradually introducing a BA (English, German and Polish specialization)/MA model in Secondary Education and Philology Program (translation is included) introducing a BA (English). 

Successful graduates obtain a Master’s degree. Degree programs include courses on key subjects (the practice of oral and written language, practical phonetics, practical grammar, etc.)

The four-year Bachelor’s degree programs are completed with a final state examination (attestation).  The one-year and four-month Master’s degree programs are completed with a final attestation (state examination) that includes a defense of the Master’s thesis. The doctoral study program “Philology” usually lasts three years and is completed with a state doctoral examination and a defense of a Ph.D. thesis.
